Strokestown is Ireland’s longest-running poetry festival, and has established a reputation for friendly informality twinned with deep respect for poetry, poets and poetry lovers. Here’s your chance to take part in it. 


1st Prize € 2,000, plus a week-long residency at Anam Cara Writer’s and Artist’s Retreat. 
2nd Prize € 700. 
3rd Prize € 500. 
Reading fees of € 300 for 5 shortlisted poets. 
The 8 shortlisted poems will be printed in the Strokestown Anthology 2018. 

Judges: Moya Cannon and Harry Clifton. 
Prize winner announced in Strokestown 6th May 2018.

Entry Fee: £6.00 (euros) per poem

2018 dlr Arts Grants Scheme

The 2018 dlr Arts Grants Scheme is now open. dlr Arts Office runs an annual grant scheme through which grants are available to provide financial assistance to individual artists, arts groups and arts organisations engaged in arts projects or events at local or county level and to support the professional development and arts practice of individual artists, arts groups and organisations.  There are also Arts Access Grants which are specifically for older persons groups and youth services.


Closing date for all applications: Friday 13 October 2017

Francis Ledwidge Poetry Award

Trophy and Cash Prizes


1st Prize is the Ledwidge plaque (a keepsake) inscribed with the winner’s name & cash prize.
Cash prizes and books for Second and Third and merit certificates for finalists.

The first 3 poems will be entered in the Forward Prize UK
In addition, the winner will be invited to read at the annual Francis Ledwidge Commemoration at the National War Memorial Gardens in July 2018

Rules :
Poems must be the competitor’s own work not previously published or broadcast.
Poems should not exceed 40 lines of type
Entry fee: €5 per poem
Max. 6 poems payable to the Inchicore Ledwidge Society
Name and address and telephone number on a separate sheet.
S.A.E. or Email address for winners list. Poems will not be returned.
All entries must be submitted before 5th November 2017 to:

Cill Rialaig residency submissions

The deadline for the next selection precession is 15 September.

Cill Rialaig Project invite applications for residency awards at their artist retreat on Bolus Head, near Ballinskelligs, County Kerry.

Selection panel sits twice yearly.
