Temporary Blog Hiatus for Electric Picnic

Hi All, As the Poetry Divas and many other people will be in wellies in a field in Co Laois over the weekend, this blog is taking a break. Here are my picks of the festival. As usual, times are varied and subject to change. Some have already changed between the published programme and what the performers were told.

Karl Parkinson, Phil Lynch - Mindfield - The Word Stage 6pm. Sounds lads here. Start off with a treat.
The Brad Pitt Light Orchestra - Mindfield - Leviathan Stage 8pm. Excellent set last year.
PJ Harvey - Main Stage - 8.45pm
Marty Mulligan and the Aftermath - Mindfield - The Word Stage 9.45pm. Always a surprise (in a good way)

Saturday  
Poetry Divas - Mindfield - The Word Stage 1pm How could you miss us!
Leanne O'Sullivan - Mindfield - Arts Council Literary Stage 1:30pm Not considered a performance poet, she still gives a great performance and she's a super poet.
Glor Sessions - Mindfield - The Word Stage. 3pm (or maybe 1.45pm?) with Stephen James Smith
Poetry Ireland - Mindfield -  Arts Council Literary Stage Poetry Ireland presents cool poets such as the inimitable/unimitatable Iggy McGovern
Science gallery - Ignite Mindfield - Ignition Stage 3-4pm. A series of very varied 5 minute talks with slides. Always worth a visit. A Cabaret of Ideas indeed.
Republic of Loose - Main Stage 4pm I loves these at Festival of Fires this year
Roddy Doyle - Mindfield - Arts Council Literary Stage 5pm Gives good talk.
Kevin Barry - Mindfield - Arts Council Literary Stage 5.30pm
Caca Milis Cabaret - Mindfield - Arts Council Literary Stage 6.15pm with the lovely Helena Mulkerns Nighthawks - Mindfield - The Word Stage 7pm or maybe 7.15pm. A popular arts club.

Sunday
Sarah Clancy and Sarah Griffin - Mindfield - Arts Council Literary Stage noon
Dublin Gospel Choir Main Stage 1pm - Gets the Sunday off to a hair raising start.
Sarah Clancy - Mindfield - The Word Stage 2pm
Science gallery - Ignite Mindfield - Ignition Stage 3-4pm. Including poet Kerrie O'Brien. A series of very varied 5 minute talks with slides. Always worth a visit. A Cabaret of Ideas indeed.
The Unthanks - Main Stage - 3.45pm Trad from the very North of England. Not sure about the main stage but they were great a few years ago in a smaller tent.
The Brownbread Mixtapes - Mindfield - The Word Stage 3.45pm always a great show from Kalle Ryan and co.
Joan as Policewoman Crawdaddy Stage 5:30pm
Tonguebox - Mindfield - The Word Stage. 6pm
