Interview with a writer

I'm thinking of interviewing writers and agents and maybe publishers as part of this blog, different genres and levels of publications.

Any burning questions you want me to ask?
Anything unique and insightful?
Anyone volunteer or you can suggest?

I have a few people in mind I know but am open to ideas.

Great idea! I'd love to hear more from agents and publishers myself - about submissions, query letters, synopsis, and so on. How to escape the slush pile really! And what not to do too - always helpful.

It's a good idea. I've tried it myself, as well as being interesting to the average blog reader it's a nice way to assist writers who you recognise as having ability.

Are you coming into town to say hi on the 26th?

Great idea. Definitely get in touch with Declan Heaney and Cormac Kinsella. They actually do book publicity, but between them cover most of the big UK publishers. Both are very helpful too.

Comforting tales from rejected authors who now have success, of any kind...

Who encouraged the writer and how?

For publishers WHAT do you really, really want??!!! The same old same old? Or something fresh?

That sounds great, I'm planning on a Q&A night with an agent/ publisher in September as the second leg of my publicity / world domination.

Hi all, Glad you like the idea. I'll huddle in a little corner and come up with some deep, insightful, unique, witty questions...

Very good idea - I love hearing agent/publisher insights/likes, dislikes, plus "how I got my first book deal type stories." Can't wait :o)

always interested in hearing writers/publishers thoughts. Some ideas; current favourite book / author - and why? Why do you write / publish? Key influence / mentor? For writers; how many words per day? Most enjoyable aspect of writing/publishing? Ideal achievement? Why write / publish anymore in a world full of content? For publishers: What one good, practical test for your manuscript would you recommend? Look forward to this!

Thanks for all the ideas. Keep them coming.

Sinead: don't know who Declan Heaney and Cormac Kinsella are?

Cousin: What type of a Q&A night? In person?

PJ: Not sure I understand what you mean by one practical test for an MS...?
