Funding is available in the following categories:- Individual Artist Award Awards of between €1,000 and a maximum of €2,500 will be made under this scheme. Professional practicing artists working in any artform, discipline or genre are eligible to apply to this scheme. The award is primarily being offered to assist artists at all stages of their careers in the development of their art practice.
- It is intended that artists apply this support in one or more of the following three key ways:
- for their professional formation
- for the making of new work
- and/or development of their practice The purpose of the award is to allow artists working in any context to realise a specific body of work/training that will enhance the development of their practice. This could include their participation on short-term courses, specialist workshops, mentorship’s etc, but it is not intended to fund third-level or ongoing study. The intention is to offer artists time to undertake residencies or buy time to develop or research a new body of work, with a particular focus on career development. Applicants may apply for living costs, materials and in some cases, the hiring of services where they are intrinsic or necessary to the creative process or the production/dissemination of work, however these must not make up the majority of costs relating to the application. Criteria. Applications will be assessed on the following basis:
- Artistic merit & practice
- Quality of ideas presented
- Track record of applicant artist
- Financial feasibility
- Benefit to the participating artists’ practice
- Applicants must be from or resident in County Wicklow for a period of 3 years.
- Project/Education Award for Artists
- Arts Group/Arts Organisation Award The intention of this award scheme is to support arts groups/organisations in the realisation of an arts project or programme which will support their development in an arts context. It is the intention of this award to fund in total or in part a project/programme, which sees the realisation/showcasing of new work. Applications can be for a research and development phase of a new initiative or for the production/ implementation of a particular project/programme. Criteria In order to be successful under the scheme groups must illustrate the:
- Artistic merit of proposal
- Quality of arts practice
- Demonstrated track record of the groups’ involvement in the arts
- Benefit of the award to the group’s artistic development
- Financial Feasibility of the proposal
- Projects with primarily a community rather than arts focus
- For-profit or fundraising projects
- Competitive initiatives
- Deficits or start-up costs for new organisations
- Entertainment expenses
- Projects where the majority of activity takes place outside County Wicklow
- Insurance costs
- Capital improvements
- Projects/programmes where the majority of costs relate to equipment hire/administrative costs
- Arts Festival Fund
