Poetry Bus

I've finally taken a ticket on the Poetry Bus. I apologise for avoiding such forms of transport for a while.

This week it's Enchanted Oak in the driver's seat. Click the link for other passengers, a diverse and startling bunch as ever I've seen of a Sunday, and public transport does have a habit of picking up all sorts. I have a soft spot for my Dukes of Hazzard man on the Blanchardstown Bus once.

I chose the boat picture.

Ebb Tide Drift

I've taken the poem down again now to rework and perhaps submit to some lucky journal.

I think my eyes are going...I read this as 'yucky journal' first!

I suppose lucky and yucky could co-exist...

The future, now, that’s different.
That’s up for grabs.
All you have to do is take your pole, find your own oars.
The future’s a current;
go with the flow.

I rather liked these lines regrouped - hope you don't mind my playing with them? I couldn't resist a little fiddle! :)

"The future's a current" is a wonderful play on words. I like your vision here, the boat as representative of life choices. And that business about the three paw prints on the dock is really fine. Nice work, Emerging!

Thanks for stopping by. I'm trying not to drift so going with the flow wouldn't work so well. I have my own path (and all that)

Oh, good to have you back.
I was going to write something about certain lines, but on a few re-readings this is just wholely good.

I really enjoyed ths piece, it's lyrical rather laid-back pace. A kin to being in a boat

An optimistic poem - and it's hard to "do optimistic" I think, always easier to write in a minor key.

"The future’s a current" and "find your own oars" I liked those lines. My current mindset is somewhere between these. I am trying to figure out whether to go with the flow or dig another way/stream/brook and le'em follow..

I liked it a lot!:)

Thanks everyone. My first motivational poem? I think it could use more meat myself...what do you think?

Growing older is wonderful ... one does tend to 'go with the flow.' I enjoyed your poem ...........
