Death to The Death of Poetry from Harper Magazine. Everybody today knows that poetry is "useless and completely out of date"--as Flaubert put it in Bouvard and Pécuchet a century ago.

Fascinating essay at Magma on words out of fashion in poetry. Shards? Gossamer wings. Nominations please?

Thanks for the links!

I did google the proposed title of my poetry book and also checked the copyright list for Canada before going ahead.

Hope you had a great Christmas and New Year!

Kat

P.S. I've been enjoying all the poems in the "Poetry Divas" book - "While It Lasted" is stellar!

I love xkcd.com (stars sliding led me to it) and now I feel like a heel for not passing it on.

Out-of-fashion? I'm desperate to use 'Lethe-wards' in something. Anything, really.

Please let the words going out of fashion be 'Persephone' and 'Orpheus in the underpants' In fact please let it be each and every 'I've been to university me' reference to anything Greek/mythological and also while I'm at it/on it,let's ban all mention of obscure exotic locations rivers/forests/mountains/ car parks where the poet happens to be struck by his her/well travelled muse.

Now I must lie down.
