Poem for Poetry Jam

I haven't been in the Poetry Jam since it's inauguration but I've a few pieces about swimming, mainly composed with my head in the water so this week's prompt here sent me scurrying back.

Update: Removed for reworking

Effective. Particularly like that second line.

Just got to go non-Jam - what format do I buy Plan B in for the ordinary Windows computer? I've got PDF, HTML and two types of plain text to choose from, and I'm confused.

Hi Titus

Thanks for that. Non-Jam. well, it's up to you. You can download software very easily for the pc to read books as if it were a Kindle. That's quite good or you can download PDF. I think if you buy it on smashwords, you can try all formats for the one price. Let me know!

What a wonderful poem about a child, I'm assuming...

Yes, they surpass us quickly in so many ways.

Thanks Sioux, don't they just!

That time when we were level
passed us by.

That line could be applied to so many different kinds of relationships. It sent my mind off on spider diagrams :)

Simple and deep. Nice work.

That magical moment when our children begin to come into their own - when no matter how hard we might try, they surpass us. And it's all good.

That's great Jessica. I love it when someone else's poem triggers a thought in me. Will be fascinated to see what comes out.

thanks Oak. Simple like me!

Helen - help-ma-bob. I hope they're not reading the comments. They haven't realised yet.

A good metaphor. I suppose we all want our children to outstrip us, though in my case, it wasn't much of a challenge for them. My daughter won't even let me win an occasional game of Cluedo.

Thanks Brian. Outstripped in many ways now. Peter - I'm with you. I'll worry if they start writing poetry.

We have a picture on our refrigerator of the first time my son beat me in arm wrestling. Great poem -- our jobs are to help our children exceed us.

That time when we were level, so hard to catch! So hard to admit sometimes you've been looking for it. Wonderful poem.

Thanks Bagman. You should post the photo up!
Thanks Nanu I've never caught it. Except with shoe sizes

Reminds me when each of my 5 children surpassed me in height (not tough to do at 5 feet tall). Loved the simplicity and depth.

I played this week for the first time. Hope you'll stop by: Free Fall.

It is strange being the shortest in the family.
