an evening of Japanese and Irish poetry

If you are lucky enough to be in Galway this coming Friday, I'd recommend this evening.

The Embassy of Japan is very pleased to inform you of an evening of Japanese and Irish poetry with Japanese tanka poet Hisa Kagawa, and Irish poet and novelist Mary O’Donoghue, hosted by the Rev. Patrick Towers.

· Date: Friday 2 March 2012
· Time: 6.00pm
· Venue: Charlie Byrne’s Bookshop, Cornstore Mall, Middle Street, Galway (www.charliebyrne.com/)
· Admission: free of charge

Hisa Kagawa is based in Osaka, Japan and visits Galway every year. This is her fourth poetry reading with a local poet, and she will read tanka inspired and written during her previous visits to Ireland. She will be joined by Mary O’Donoghue, whose poetry has appeared in various Irish and international periodicals and anthologies.
Catering will be provided by Wa Café and all are welcome to attend this rare opportunity to enjoy Far Eastern and Far Western poetry.
