Playwright Godfrey Hamilton, who was born in Southend and attended Southend High School for Boys but who has lived in Los Angeles for the past 20 years, was the first winner of the Southend Radio Playwriting competition after a panel of four judges listened and saw the 10 best plays from the 50 entered. (Only 50!)
Three of the Southend entries were among those performed in the last 10 with two plays a night in the Palace Theatre, Westcliff’s Dixon Studio with grand finale on the Saturday (October 27). This had a near full house for the best three plays with the winners personally receiving prizes of £500. £150 and £100.
I am an American author living in Westcliff. I seek other writers who enjoy collaborating on works.
